In this CCCE presentation, Tana and Carroll will address the steps it took them to build a meaningful eLearning program “Let’s Talk About Racism: An Introduction to anti-Black Racism”.

Highlights will include addressing knowledge gaps, making the content relevant, the approval process in a political environment, community consultation, technology and other best practices that can be applied to any course development.

Speakers

Tana Turner owner and principal consultant of Turner Consulting Group Inc. She has worked in the field of equity, diversity and inclusion since 1987. In her current role as a consultant, she works primarily in the non-profit and public sectors to assess the equity, diversity and inclusion efforts of organizations and support their ability to hire a more diverse workforce, create a more inclusive working environment, and deliver services that meet the needs of a diverse client population.

Carroll Blair is an adult educator dedicated to making the learner experience as relevant and sustainable as the content.  Her current challenge as Senior Learning & Development Specialist at the City of Markham is to create curriculum that moves beyond diversity and inclusion training to anti-racist education.
